11. Tips on mats
Is a mat (cardboard frame around the print) necessary?
It put more accent on the print.
You can put a color mat to enhance the color of the print.
It avoids the print to have direct contact with the glass
and allows air circulation and doesn't stick to the glass.
It prevents the paper wrinkling, mildew and color fading.
It is important to have an acid-free mat.
Depending on the effect, you might want to use
only one mat or 2 same or different colors over each other,
one being smaller or even 3 to create different effects.
Mats are not recommended around canvas and also around posters
that already have the same effect as a mat.
Small prints may look smaller with mats.

13. Tips on picture over furniture
Do not hang a picture
over a piece of furniture
which is shorter than the picture itself.
In fact, the unit is displayed better
when the proportion of the print to the furniture is .75 to 1.

16. Tips on types of glass
You can choose standard clear
and non-glare in both acrylic and glass.
Clear acrylic looks about the same as clear glass,
offering little protection from UV light
and no reduction in room glare.
It has the advantage of being lighter in weight
than glass and unbreakable.
This may be the important consideration for your choice.
Non-glare products reduce the glare associated
with stray light in the room.

17. Tips on color of the mat (cardboard frame around the print)
A mat color should be chosen to enhance the print.
It doesn't need to match exactly.
All photographs and/or prints whether black and white,
or color - have a tone - a degree of color.
When picking a mat, choose a color
that is not dominant in the art itself.
It will make that color seem more important
and support the artwork.

18. Tips on bevel-cut matting
Bevel-cut, i.e. the angle of the cut
into the thickness of the mat is often used
preferably to a right angle cut.
This is a personal choice.

19. Tips on mats colors, textures and organization
Mat colors and textures are a personal choice.
You can use them to enhance your prints.
If you choose to put two mats together,
we recommend that the outer mat be close
to the same width as the width of the outside frame,
and the inner mats be about a quarter of this width.
Mat colors should never dominate the art
but should set it apart from the frame.
We suggest to have the mat selection
reflect the same color base as the art being framed.

20. Tips on balance the print in the mat.
In order to balance the print in the mat,
it may generally require 6 cm or more
all the way around the image.
You can also decide to make it wider at the bottom
just to give some visual weight to the print,
to stabilize it in the two dimensions space.
